These figures show emission from the sky at different frequencies in
galactic coordinates .Although an excess around the
galactic centre is clearly visible at all frequencies, the physical
processes responsible for the emission in the various electromagnetic bands are
very different.
The most important ones include:
Black body
Synchroton radiation
Inverse compton
Line emission
(You can find a brief description of
these emission mechanisms in the next four pages.)
A multi frequency approach is necessary
if we want to understand the physics of the astronomical objects and their
evolution.
